"Parallel Charlotte: Two Cities, One Divide"

My photojournalism project showcases the drastic economic divide in Charlotte, NC, a city that promotes its innovation and growth, while many lifelong residents remain stuck. By pairing images side by side and capturing wide shots, the photos highlight that growth and stagnation occur just feet apart.

Inspired by Raj Chetty's findings on economic mobility, which put Charlotte at the bottom of U.S. metro areas for upward mobility, I aimed to bring awareness and encourage reflection on the city’s unequal opportunities with original photos.
